I was contacted out of the blue by a talent acquisition representative who seemed very interested in my background and experience. The initial message was engaging enough to prompt a response, and I took the time to reply thoughtfully and provide the requested details.
After that, complete silence.
No follow-up, no acknowledgment, not even a generic “we’ve decided to move in another direction.” Just ghosted. It’s frustrating and frankly unprofessional, especially considering this person initiated the outreach. If you’re going to proactively reach out to candidates, the bare minimum is to close the loop.
This kind of behavior reflects poorly not just on the individual recruiter, but on the organization they represent. Candidates invest time and effort in responding, and that should be respected. Even an automated response would have been better than nothing.
