I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at State Farm (Torrance, CA) in Oct 2014
Interview
I got the interview through a Craigslist ad online. The response time was the same day and we scheduled the interview for that week. It was a preliminary phone interview in which the agent asked me how much I knew about insurance, if I had researched the companies services online ( I did) and if I was a "go- getter". The agent was very driven and looking for her team to be the same. Insurance sales is not for those who take "no" easily and I could tell their was not going to be a lot of support getting clients from the agent. It's pretty much every woman for herself. You do all of your own networking, all your own selling and the agent gives you an office space in which to work and pays you an hourly rate. The bulk of your income is made off of commissions as are most insurance companies and you create your own monthly sales goals above the minimum that the agent requires. I got a second in person interview but am thinking of turning it down. The agent just seemed to be very intense.

Very Casual, not a tough interview. Everything was fairly straight forward. Talked on the phone with agent then set an interview with him for coffee. Once we discussed things we met in the office.

Depending on the agents that the process varies. One of the most comprehensive process was firstly personality test, then math test, then initial interview with team lead, then second indepth interview, then licensing passing requirement.
