      Store Manager Interview

      30 Dec 2012

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Starbucks (New York, NY) in Oct 2010

      Interview

All applications must be entered online no matter for what job you're applying. It is advisable that if you're seeking a position as a Barista Partner that you make a phone call to the store you're applying to within 7 days just to follow up, but DO NOT ask if they're hiring, or if they've seen your application. This is a sure fire way to be ignored instantly. Once you're identified as a possible candidate, you will get a phone call depending on the time of the year inside of 7 days or so. The prescreen exercise is fairly straightforward in that if you're apply for management you'll be asked a few questions about preferences and job history. If you're applying for Barista, you'll be asked about your job history and your availability. If you sail through that, you'll know immediately whether or not you have your 1st interview. Expect at least 2 interviews through the process, possibly 3 or 4 depending on what position you're going for. The entire process can take 7-14 days from beginning to end. At that point, you could still lose out if you do not pass the background check. Also, if you do not pass the assessment, they will not have viability to your application. Furthermore, unless your application stands out in a big way, there's little chance that you will get contacted without some intervention on your part by way of a phone call. Pay attention to hiring events as well, often these are lead by Starbucks Recruiters, this is the best way to get in without knowing someone hired already.
