I reached out to the recruiter directly. After showing my profile to the hiring manager, she did a prescreen phone interview with me including background, HR questions, and company background including benefits. The hiring manager was going on vacation, so while he was gone, I had a phone interview with his proxy, a principal network engineer. The interview was rushed and I felt the engineer was distracted and/or having a very busy day. I had a couple back-and-forths with the recruiter trying to get phone interview feedback and a follow-up with the hiring manager. She was supposed to speak with him and then get back to me and had put some time on the calendar to do so, but I never heard from her again. Almost a month later, I got a generic email saying the position was no longer available.
