      Software Engineer Interview

      10 Apr 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Denver, CO
      Accepted offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at SpinFusion (Denver, CO) in Sept 2016

      Interview

The interview process here was a joke. They decided for some odd reason to split what could have been one interview into 3 separate ones, likely so applicants can feel like the company is exclusive and selective of recruits which judging by the empty office, they can't be. The first interview could have easily been covered over the phone and only covered basic 'who are you?' and 'what are you looking for?' type of questions. The second interview I met with the CEO and one other person to go over some sample code I submitted. I couldn't tell if the CEO was a jerk or just a robot but he was very rude and confrontational for no reason and honestly made me feel pretty negative towards the company already. The 3rd and final interview was like a mix of the first two, some personality questions and some questions about my technical background. They didn't ask any real coding problems which I found odd. I ended up getting an offer that was much lower than what I was offered any where else so I turned it down. The only pro I see working at SpinFusion is the location, which is conveniently located on Broadway close to downtown. A tip for the CEO: act like someone who you would want to work with, your company is still a start up and engineers know that they will have to work very closely with you on a daily basis. Also, either pay people a competitive wage or allow for negotiations. And one more thing, a drug test? Really? This is Colorado, good luck hiring any software engineer in Denver who could pass one of those.

      7 Mar 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Denver, CO
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at SpinFusion (Denver, CO) in Feb 2017

      Interview

Underwent a 2 hour coding exam, two Skype interviews, and one in person interview, and an assignment that took a couple hours between interviews. I didn't get an offer, not a big deal, However, after spending so many hours taking their exam, interviews, and homework I respectfully said thanked them for their time and asked them for some interview feedback since I am new to this and they completely ignored me. You would think after I invest so much time in proving myself to them and they can't even bother to give some quick areas of improvement. Anyways, I think it speaks to the attributes of the company, they don't give back and from what I take from that is they want highly skilled workers but don't want to give back. If you get contacted by the CEO I would recommend respectfully passing. You can find better internships with reputable names like I did. The few good things I noticed: they get back to you relatively early, the people and operations manager seemed down to earth and kind, was one of the reasons that helped me dismiss the negative comments about the company. Great view from the building.
