I was initially contacted by someone from the company about a potential opportunity. At the time, I wasn’t actively looking or particularly open to a change, but I was curious to learn more.
We had a first video interview during which they explained that the company was looking for someone with my background and over two years of relevant experience. I shared my salary expectations very early in the process, and the interviewer explicitly confirmed that this range aligned with their budget. The conversation went well, and based on the role description and salary alignment, I decided to continue the process as I was genuinely interested.
After that, I was asked to formally apply through their portal and then had a second interview with a Talent Acquisition representative. During this conversation, it became clear that the role was actually considered junior/entry-level, and the salary range discussed was approximately $15k below what had been previously confirmed and well below my stated expectations.
This discrepancy highlighted a clear lack of alignment internally, as well as poor communication and transparency throughout the process. Overall, the experience felt unorganized and inconsistent with what had been communicated at the start.
