Na het versturen van m'n CV werd ik uitgenodigd op gesprek. Dit vond online plaats. Hierna werd ik vrij snel op de hoogte gebracht van de uitslag, en had ik nog even tijd om na te denken.

Interview
I was very inspired by Source's mission but slightly disappointed by the interview process. Despite the application acknowledgement email saying they'd get back to me within one week and me following up by email, I only heard back after two and a half weeks.
The application process was: 60m interview with recruiter and frontend engineer, take-home coding challenge (8 hours!!), 90m technical interview with lead engineer and frontend engineer and finally a 45m interview with a lead or chief-level employee.
The coding challenge was interesting but far too much work for an interview process in my opinion, especially as it's unpaid and still followed by a 90m technical interview. I was told after the technical interview I would hear back by the end of the week but I didn't, and had to follow up via email TWICE before I got any response. They gave positive feedback but decided to go with somebody more senior which is fine, but I was disappointed by the lack of contact. Additionally, there were a few red flags throughout the interview process that lead me to accept a different offer regardless of their response.
I think the company is doing something very cool but need to work on their communication and technical interview process.

Question 1
Present your coding challenge, talking through your decisions and things that could be improved upon

Interview
First you have to send a letter on which you will, or will not, be invited to the office to have a talk with the recruiter and the person leading your team. At the office you’ll have a talk and they give you an assignment. They hand over a stack of papers with a scenario and give you 10 minutes to prepare a presentation with your solution. For some people this could be working but for me this was difficult. It seems like a very interesting position and company, who are working towards something positive to the world. Unfortunately, this style of assesment caught me off guard and I didn’t handle it as I wanted. The explanation afterwards when I was rejected made sense because I felt like I didn’t do well and they took the time in explaining why they made the decision which I appreciated. I would have liked a different kind of assessment but it could be that they’ve changed it in the mean time.
