      Customer Service Specialist Interview

      6 Sept 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at Slido (London, England) in Dec 2021

      Interview

Interview process was made out of 6(!) interviews in total, including the one with CEO of Slido. These were mostly focused on the culture fit, and experiences with CS. As a candidate you were also given a task to showcase your skills and whether you're a suitable fit for the vacancy. Unfortunately I don't believe there's a need for such a high amount of interviews for an entry level position. I acknowledge that a culture fit is certainly an important factor (and undoubtedly, people interviewing me at the time were cool), however, unless you're employed in a key worker role where people's lives depend on you (doctor or firefighter), there's absolutely no need to drag candidates through so many interviews for this specific role - but perhaps Cisco can spend money to do interviews, instead of hiring a person who can make conversions 🤷🏻‍♀️ First round of 4 interviews were done in winter between 2021 and 2022, where after the 4th interview, process was halted as they managed to fit a person into the headcount (this took about a month, end of Dec 2021 - Jan 2022). In summer 2022 (May - June-ish), the position reopened again and I applied again after being encouraged previously to do so. I passed 2 more interviews including the one with CEO, only to be told that there's a hiring freeze with Cisco and there's uncertainty with the position - and that Slido will reach out if a possible job opportunity will be opened. I didn't really understand the reason why the vacancy was reopened, if there's a hiring freeze happening in the following month (which is something that doesn't happen from day-by-day, this must've been a known fact if you're planning a budget for a financial year). Whilst I loved the vibe with the all of the interviewers and the talks we had, the process was unnecessarily lengthy (which I respect, my personal take is that it's not really needed), affected by quite disappointing, illogical and untimely corporate decisions. Additionally, the interviews weren't really "connected" to each other, so you had to repeat the same things all over again on most of the interviews.
