      Software Engineer Interview

      17 Aug 2015
      Anonymous employee
      San Diego, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Slalom (San Diego, CA) in Jul 2015

      Interview

I received an email from one of their recruiters who offered to meet with me at a Starbucks and discuss Slalom. After I responded, we met up and he told me about the company and explained the benefits of working there; essentially selling the company. He asked if I was interested in going forward with the process and I said yes. I received a technical screening phone call and asked about a wide range of topics including OOP, Web Services, Databases, Web Design, and a few data structures (see questions below). It was a relaxed interview and he ended it by asking if I had any questions so I asked him about company culture and his day-to-day job. The recruiter that I spoke with earlier told me that they liked my performance in the technical screening and wanted to schedule interviews with two manager type positions. There were a few scheduling conflicts that occurred due to miscommunication between the Seattle office and the Orange County office but they were very apologetic and professional and asked when/where I could meet them. I met with one of the manager type positions at a restaurant and had another phone call with the other where one was focused on company fit and my personal motivations as a programmer and the other asked similar questions with a few consultant questions. I received another email from the recruiter saying that they both liked me and they wanted me to meet with their head manager as a final interview. I met with him and had a relaxed discussion about my motivations and he explained what kind of people work and Slalom and told me about the expectations that I should have. The next day I received a call from the recruiter and he asked to meet with me to discuss an offer. The whole process took about a month from initial contact to signing the offer letter.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Slalom in May 2022

      Interview

The recruiters were great. However, in my opinion, the tech screeners lost all interest once they saw that I am over 40. Additionally, the tech screening case was sent to me 20 minutes before the interview. To be fair, they might have been trying to gauge how well I can think on my toes, but I found that to be unusual.

      Interview

First-round with HR, very helpful and friendly. Two rounds of technical interviews, one is more focused on coding and CS knowledge in general, the other is more conversational with BQ and working experience.

      Interview

I had a great interview process! Recruiter was very responsive and the people I interviewed with were awesome. I was told I got positive feedback from the interviewers but they aren’t hiring for the position until the find a director for the team. I feel like it was a way to tell me they aren’t interested.
