      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Slalom (Irvine, CA) in Jul 2015

      Interview

I met with a total of 8 people during the interview process. The first 4 were in Orange County since that's the geography, then I met with 3-4 people in the SF office meeting with the western regional leaders. The people who interviewed ranged from consultant manager to western regional leaders and general managers, managing directors, and client service partners.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

There weren't explicit questions as much as a discussion about compatibility and fit. My intention going in was to better understand what Slalom wants to accomplish, what's the culture like, whether I can do the kinds of work I want to do with a balance given between autonomy and support from the leadership. My first interviews with consultant managers weren't as well prepared as I would have liked, but I did communicate that feedback to the recruiter but all the interviewers were very open and transparent and I enjoyed speaking to them. There was also some confusion in terms of what role they were considering me for and because their org structure is different than what most people are used to, it was difficult for me to get a clear answer. So, I would be in an interview and I'd get asked which position I'm aiming to get, I'd say "well I don't know what the title is but I can tell you here are the things I want to do..." And I'd get a confusing response. I only got the clarity I was looking for when I spoke with the senior leadership and they seemed very clear on where they saw me.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Slalom (Charlotte, NC)

      Interview

3 interviews - completely ghosted after 3rd interview. I reached out several times for next steps and no response. I am fine if I am not a good fit but have enough professionalism to let me know.

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Slalom (Austin, TX) in Aug 2020

      Interview

Hands down this was the best interview process I have ever experienced. From start to finish Slalom's personality of being a unique, people first organization came through during every step of the process. Everything from the warmth and candidness of the various interviewers as well as the transparency around the dynamics driving decisions around the hiring dates. I cannot say enough positive things about the whole process and it set a new standard for how I will engage with potential hires in the future.

      Client Service Lead Interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Slalom (Washington, DC) in May 2019

      Interview

The interview process was a aeries of "get to know you" type conversations, without a specific agenda communicated ahead of time, and without a clear sense of the number of conversations left in the process. In retrospect, this is an intentional part of really assessing the character of the candidates against the cultural values, and Slalom takes great care in ensuring they are only accepting strong cultural fits for their team.

Thanks for taking the time to share this feedback with us, and welcome to Slalom DC! It's great that you felt as though the process was purposeful, but I believe your feedback is quite relevant as we could do a better job setting expectations early on in the process.
