      Graduate Program Interview

      11 Oct 2012
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Shell in Sept 2012

      Interview

Interview consisted of three parts: 1. Name an accomplishment - Explain - How did you monitor your progress? - How many people were involved? - Which obstacles did you encounter, how did you solve them? - Which obstacles did you foresee? - How did you know it would turn out as sucess? - What was the most difficult part? - What feedback did management give you (strengths and weaknesses?) - What would you do differently next time and why didn't you do it in the first place? - How did you plan the steps? 2. Work as part of a team - Tell situation where you worked as a team? - How did you manage the team? - How do you handle difficult situations / people? - Did you have to alter your way of communication? - How do you make sure you stay healthy and don't devote all your time to the project? - What did you team mates say about your qualities as a leader: strengths, weaknesses 3. Imagine you are a decision maker at a multinational, choose from 4 areas. I chose Health, saefty, Security and Environment. Questions are so generic, however, that they are applicable to every area: - How would you improve that area? - Which obstacles do you foresee and how would you handle them? - Which methods would you use? - How do you think will this area develop in the next years? - What are threats? - What are opportunities?

      Question 1

Be aware that they are quite harsh on the interview. I felt that I had totally screwed up. It was really bad. Tow days later I was invited to attend the SRD. Now waiting for that.

The first round is a recorded video interview. You need to record some videos based on their questions. There were 3 questions or me, which is not very unique. About your project, your interest in Shell.

      Interview

I recently completed a video interview on HireVue, and the overall experience was pretty interesting. The platform presented a large number of psychological assessment questions along with several prompts focused on workplace morality and ethical decision-making. I appreciated that HireVue allowed unlimited time to record and re-record my video responses, which took a lot of the pressure off and made the process feel more flexible and less rushed. Each portion of the interview was fairly in-depth and required thoughtful answers, so it ended up taking around 30 minutes per section. The combination of the structured assessments and the freedom to redo videos made the entire interview feel thorough but manageable.
