I applied in-person. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Sephora (New York, NY) in Jun 2012
Interview
Filled out an application and gave in a resume; was called a few days later for a group interview. This was in the 34th street herald square NYC location. I am an experienced freelance makeup artist and showed up to the interview with well applied makeup displaying my skills. I was interviewed along with three other girls and two hiring managers. The interview lasted no longer than fifteen minutes. We are asked a question and each of us gave our answers one by one. I believe I evoked the fact that I am passionate about what I do and would be a good candidate. I was a bit nervious which is normal, but still gave great answers judging by the impressed look I received by both women after answering a particular question. The interview ended by reviewing our applications for any editing and we were told we would hear back in about a week and a half since the hiring managers were leaving the state for an event or something. Never got a call back for some strange reason and am not bothering with sephora ever again after that wasteful experience; even after the 42nd street location tried setting up an interview with me numerous times. They obviously don't want to hire anyone that is potentially better than them.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Talk about a troubled time in the workplace and what you did about it.
Pretty standard interview. A lot of the questions emphasized selling to the customer so focus on that. If they ask what your favourite product is, don’t just say what it is. Try to sell it to the interviewer.
