I applied through university. I interviewed at Saab Group (Chennai) in Feb 2025
Interview
The interview process typically begins with application screening, where resumes and cover letters are reviewed to shortlist suitable candidates. Next, initial assessments, such as aptitude tests or phone screenings, evaluate core skills and qualifications. Shortlisted applicants progress to interviews, which may be virtual, over the phone, or in-person, focusing on technical expertise, problem-solving, and cultural fit. Candidates might face multiple rounds, including behavioral, technical, or panel interviews. Following evaluations, interviewers provide feedback and discuss impressions to reach a decision. Finally, the process concludes with either an offer of employment or a rejection, ensuring fair, merit-based selection.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
A common interview question is: “Can you tell me about a time you faced a challenge at work and how you handled it?” — it reveals problem-solving, resilience, and communication skills.
Applied for an advertisement via an external recruiter, then was screened by Saab internal HR team. I was invited onsite for an interview with a mix of technical and personality questions. Everyone was friendly and professional, although the salary offered was much lower than indicated by the external recruiter.
I applied online. I interviewed at Saab Group in Sept 2024
Interview
Got a first interview pretty soon after my application. We talked about my background and more specific competences surrounding the job. Overall the interview was a good experience and I received quick and thorough feedback afterwards (even though I didn't get an offer).

Question 1
They mainly asked about programming experience and overall background, but also a bit about non-programming related competences that were more application specific.
