I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at RBC (Toronto, ON) in Oct 2019
Interview
Applied on the website, then got a mail from HR to do a HackerRank coding test. The test was extremely difficult not because of the complex question but more because of the length of the questions and the data points that they asked. Anyhow was able to clear it.
I was then called for an in-person interview. The in-person interview was split in two parts, for the first hour I was interviewed by the team comprising of 2 data scientists and 1 data engineer. The second interaction was for about 20 mins with the hiring manager.
2 days after the in-person interview, I got an email from HR stating that the hiring manager doesn't sees me as a Sr. Data Scientist but is willing to consider me as a Data Scientist. That effectively means that I will be offered a lower pay band. I agreed because I felt the team and the work was good and it will be a great learning opportunity.
Then I was invited for the final in-person interview with the Director, which went for about 45-50 mins. It was mostly non-technical. It went very well (per my assessment).
Then I waited for almost 3 weeks with no response, and finally when I followed up, the HR said that the hiring manager had hired someone else for the Sr. Data Scientist. To which I replied that I was shared that the hiring manager was interested to hire me as Data Scientist and based on that understanding I was invited for the Director's round. Then the HR said then it must be some culture misfit.
I requested him to get me the feedback from the Hiring Manage/Director as to where I lacked, so that I can improve on those areas. Again, I waited for a week and when I followed-up, the HR shared he did not have direct interview feedback but that he would suggest talking about more projects in which I have worked on directly.
Such an unprofessional attitude, they engaged with me for over a month and they cant even share the feedback.
Highly disappointed!!!
