      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Qless in Mar 2014

      Interview

Three rounds of phone call interviews. First one is with the HR person who will advise you that this is a start up operation and advises you of the risks. This conversation will last about 30 minutes. Second interview is with one of the developers who will ask specific technical questions about java (what's the difference between and array and hashset or why use a link list). The second interview lasts about 45 minutes. Final interview is with the director of development who will invite you to share a screen and write a program - I was asked to calculate the angle between clock hands at any time of the day or night. This conversation will last about 2 hours.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Most java questions center around the arcane - stuff you normally don't use but if you know java well this wont be an issue. The calculation of the angle between two clock hands (hours and minutes) was the most difficult question, and working through the problem takes a little bit of thought. Can't say that this will be the exercise each candidate gets but expect to code.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Qless (Pasadena, CA) in Jan 2017

      Interview

I was first called by HR and asked for my desired salary. When I told them an industry standard in LA of 70k , they asked me what my GPA was. I told them my GPA , and they told me that with that GPA, I shouldn't even be asking for that much. "For someone to ask 70,000$, you should be going to UC Berkeley and getting a 3.5," is literally what they said. Out of all the interviews I've been to, i didn't know how to answer this one because it was so disrespectful. One month later, I started working at a much bigger company for the salary that I asked for.

Thanks for the feedback. I have addressed it with our team. There appears to have been a miscommunication. First, we compensate Liberators competitively. Second, although we count graduates of the world's top universities among our team members, we have also hired excellent self-taught candidates who don't have any degree. I apologize we didn't live up to your expectations and our standards in your interview.
