      Audit Associate Interview

      11 Jan 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Sydney
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at PwC (Sydney)

      Interview

Interview process included the following steps: -online psychometric test. This was the generic one across all other big 4 and professional service firms. Good strategy would be to do a few practise runs before taking the actual test, as it can be quite challenging. -phone interview. This involves a quick 20-30 mins phone conversation with the campus recruiter. Generally would ask you questions like "why are you interested in this role", "how have you demonstrated firm values", etc. So as long as you have your application ready and do your firm research beforehand, should be fine. -assessment centre (group activity, an onsite psychometric exam, panelist discussion and interview with a partner and manager). Group activity would involve case study and recruiters are looking to how you interact in a team environment. Probably just aim to be a "team member" rather than a leader. Panelist discussion is just to confirm that your results are consistent with your previous test. Individual interview with manager/partner is probably the most important as they have the end say based on their evaluation. Some partners/managers are chilled whilst others are more reserved. However partners have great conversational skills, so as long as they can see that you are capable of talking to senior people it should be fine.

      Question 1

Generally the conversation can be as chilled/casual as they drive it. However one of the key things they will probably bring up is the company values and how you have demonstrated it in the past (either extra curricular, employment or personal).

The process was well-structured and professional overall. It included behavioral questions, discussions about audit/accounting concepts, and questions focused on teamwork and problem-solving. Interviewers were friendly and made the conversation comfortable. The process was moderately challenging but fair, with clear communication throughout.
