PT Sous Chef At Aprons Interview

      14 Oct 2017
      Anonymous employee
      New York, NY
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Publix (New York, NY) in Oct 2017

      Interview

After sending my resume in, they called me to schedule an interview. Interview was just me and the Resident Chef talking about my experience, getting to know one another and what the program was all about. There was a cooking-terminology written test afterwards. Then, I was invited for part 2 of the application process which happened the next day. It was a mystery box challenge. I had thirty minutes to prepare, but they wanted to see some knife work and cooking skills so I prepared a la minute as well. You are basically demonstrating your ability to cook and talk/answer questions. This is where you need to not only show your cooking skills, but personality as well. You will be observed by Resident Chef and the other Sous Chefs, General Manager, and either a manager from HR or CS. After you are finished plating, we sit together and eat. This is your time to ask a few questions, establish relationships and make a good first impression. Once finished, they go talk in private before calling you in and giving you the news. I was offered FT :)
