I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Pocket Gems in Mar 2021
Interview
The interview process was lengthy. I did a case study and then hiring manager screen then on site. It seems the on site interview was just full of case study questions, which does not assess a person's ability to work cross functionally, but more like, is this person good at mobile games valuation, which i think is a bit biased because it seems like most of them already had an answer in mind. And the during one round i was straight up told that it doesn't seem i have the drive to do the job well / grind. Overall I think some interviewers came across rude and hard to work with.

The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Pocket Gems (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
I got a case study without speaking to an actual human. The case wasn't difficult to solve (later I got a feedback basically saying my excel skill isn't good enough). I finally got to speak with a hiring manager who went straight on to technical questions. I was moved to the next round with the CFO to do another case. Finally I had a 5 hour on-site with 6 interviews sessions and all technical questions.
The odd part is that after this whole process, the hiring manager scheduled a feedback session with me to basically list out the 1,2,3,4 of what I did wrong in my in interviews. She also mentioned they don't value my prior experience. She asked if I would consider an analyst role instead. I said I yes on the spot. Afterward the more I think about it, the more I think they are trying to lowball me. Because an analyst 1 position is a two level downgrade from my current position. Right before I reach out to negotiate for an analyst 2 tiltle, the recruiter called me to reject me and told me the team enjoyed talking to me but they are looking for someone who can get the ground running. So what’s the point of asking me to consider an analyst 1?
After so many rounds of interviews I don't think they ask enough question to understand what my current role and prior role do before they say they don't value my prior experience. All interviews are case studies and technical questions. They also focus on what I cannot do for them instead of what I can offer. Although the case study questions were interesting questions, I don't think there is enough question about my background nor did they give enough background about themselves. The feedback session was good so that I know what I can improve on, but I think they are only doing it to lowball me to consider an analyst role. Lastly, you don't have to schedule a call with me to reject me.
