After applying online through the company website, I was contacted by a recruiter for an initial phone screening. Basic phone screen. I was told there were a number of open positions which might suit my skill set. During the initial call, I was made aware of a number of positions, which the recruiter thought may also be a good fit for my skill set.
Afterwards, I was passed off to another recruiter, to go through the same motions again. Finally, after about a month of this, I was able to set up with a number of technical interviews, all via phone, with managing level employees in different departments. The technical interviews went well, and I was excited to proceed. Here's where things fell apart.
As customary, I enthusiastically followed up with the recruiters, awaiting next steps. Contact went from weekly, to monthly, to none at all. I would often reach out to the contacts I made, inquiring what the status was. I eventually came to assume, after unanswered emails, phone calls, etc, that was the opportunity did not exist. I strung along for nearly EIGHT MONTHS, after which I finally received a canned email stating that they would not be proceeding.
I understand the level of complexity that comes with hiring at a large company, but this was just ridiculous. It was obvious that the people at the recruitment level either did not care, or simply did not know what was going on, or perhaps (likely) both.
This might be a good company to work for, but good luck getting in the door.
Note: I state the interview was 'Difficult' because it was an extremely and long process. The actual interview questions and material were average.
