      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through other source. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Plastic Mobile (Toronto, ON) in Jul 2015

      Interview

I was initially contacted by Plastic Mobile via LinkedIn and an interview was setup over email. I went in to their location in Liberty Village in Toronto and completed the interview. I did not hear back from them. I found their interview very difficult as they did not give much time to complete the written or practical exam. Also note that when you're doing the practical test (to write an app) you must use their equipment which I found heavily hindered me as I've finely tuned my own development machine with additional software that streamlines development. I did bring my dev machine with me and asked to use it but was told I had to use their machine.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The interview was formatted into three sections: verbal, written and practical. First, you are interviewed by a member of the company essentially delving into your resume. Then, you are given a written test covering basic programming theory. Finally, they gave a practical exam consisting of writing a basic app.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Plastic Mobile (Toronto, ON)

      Interview

Everyone was very welcoming. The space is warm and comfortable, right in Liberty Village Market. First had a face to face "cultural fit" interview, then came the tech. The whole process was under two hours. I'm still waiting to hear back. I would accept an offer from Plastic for sure!

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

The goal is to use an API to fill a table view controller with images and text using JSON. The written exam has a page of definitions, three or four problem solving and three or four coding problems. The last coding problem was particularly challenging.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Plastic Mobile (Toronto, ON) in Mar 2015

      Interview

I won't go into extreme detail because it is pretty consistent with everyone else's responses. It consisted of 2 long sessions back to back. The first session was a long test (you cannot finish it) with logic questions and general computer science knowledge questions. The second portion they ask you to make an app that has some networking functionality with a basic navigation controller allowing you to expand information (most will not finish). There were some tricky logic questions on the test (according to a couple books I have read, many believe these types of questions are unfair). After the tests, you will then meet with the CEO, Sep, and he will ask you a few more questions (some technical and some general). After The Offer: I got an email Tuesday night with my offer in the body of an email directly from Sep. there was no official document. After the offer the email said that they wanted a response by Wednesday at 5PM at which point I emailed back and said "I assume you mean next Wednesday?" - which is a short timeframe anyways - and got a response that they wanted a response that day! I then asked for more time and was given 2 more days. This was a major consideration in my decision to decline the offer. They clearly do not care about matching employees to their company and this type of thing is unprofessional.
