      Human Resources Business Partner Interview

      4 Jan 2017
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Arlington Heights, IL
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Paylocity (Arlington Heights, IL) in Oct 2016

      Interview

One interview that really baffled me was one of the very last where the interviewer went on a diatribe about how my company's current business model wasn't sustainable. It really wasn't an interview but him flexing his intellectual muscle. We spent 10 minutes talking about myself and most of the time talking about whatever came into his little head. I also was disappointed in the lack of communication throughout the process. I was scheduled for a phone interview with a lower level manager after meeting with the VPs. I was told last minute about that final phone screen, which raised an eyebrow. I had my first interview in October and was told that they would have a decision following Thanksgiving. I didn't find out until the Friday before Christmas. Very classy. Obviously no one enjoys rejection but I think there's a way of creating an experience that you value the time that each candidate is taking to learn about your company. I had enough interest and respect for the company's online persona to apply. At the end of the process, I felt that there was a disconnect between who they say they are and who they actually are. I'm glad I learned it now rather than waste 3 months in Arlington Heights with a company that I was bamboozled by.

Thank you for interviewing with Paylocity and for your feedback. We value every potential employee who walks through our doors and had a very favorable impression of you. At the end of the day, there was another candidate whose experience better matched our needs. We apologize the process took longer than you expected. At Paylocity, we take pride in our authenticity, and it is never our intent to portray otherwise. Best wishes in wherever you land next!

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Paylocity (Schaumburg, IL)

      Interview

10 interviews in total over a period of 2 months, last being with the CHRO who made a lot of assumptions about my resume. Felt like I needed to defend my experience which is usually a first interview experience if that.

      Interview

After applying to the requisition, I was promptly contacted by the recruiter and scheduled for an hour discussion about my experience as well as a the company. It went well so I was scheduled to meet with the hiring manager on site. We spoke for about 2 hours and I was given the opportunity to take a look at the campus in Arlington Heights. I was contacted 2 business days later by phone with feedback. Great experience overall. The interview process was quick, efficient, and courteous. It gave me the opportunity to realize that It wasn't the ideal place for me either way.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Paylocity (Arlington Heights, IL) in Dec 2016

      Interview

The outside recruiter did a great job of keeping me informed throughout the interview process. She provided good interview preparation and feedback. The company was very flexible in working with me to find a time to interview without compromising my current position. The used a combination of behavioral and situational interview methods. What I appreciated the most was the questions where down to earth and relevant to the position.
