      Senior Software Engineer (Flash/ActionScript) Interview

      11 Dec 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Burlingame, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at PLAYSTUDIOS (Burlingame, CA)

      Interview

First was a screen interview from agency - went Ok. Then an interview with recruiter from PlayStudio. Recruiter called 1 hour earlier than we agreed. It looked more like interrogation then an interview - speakerphone was on from their side and you do not have any idea who is listening also. Did not even ask if I have any questions to them. They wanted to have coding test only on C# for Flash Engineer position instead of ActionScript3 or at least Java which is more related to ActionScript language than C#. That made me think that they do not have anybody competent to interview on ActionScript3/Java or they do not know what they want. Asked me if I read the JD where C# is a must skill which I did and C# was only in 'Bonus' section. So recruiter told me that she needs to ask the team if it is OK to have interview on Java/ActionScript. It is very and very strange as if you applied for Java position and you were asked to pass coding test on Python. Does not make any sense. As a result I very quickly received an email that the team carefully reviewed my resume and decided that I am not a feet for this position. So they did not look into resume before setting up a call and did not have an appropriate JD. Of course if that was a C# Software Engineer I am not a fit with my experience. Waste of time.
