      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Oxford University Press (Oxford, England)

      Interview

I applied online and was interviewed fan initial interview, which seemed pleasant enough. so I was rather taken by the feedback I received a week later Constructive criticism is always welcome but the tone of this was condescending,, blunt and borderline rude, particularly after what was only an initial introductory interview. The tone of the feedback has certainly dissuaded me from ever applying for another role with OUP or recommending this company to anyone else. Having read the company’s Glassdoor reviews and heard about the mass redundancies last year I feel that I have had a lucky escape. This is borne out by the recent takeover of another publisher which has amounted to little more than asset stripping. There seems to be no concern for the welfare of the talented employees they have taken on as part of the merger, as the majority of them are facing redundancy and an uncertain future through no fault of their own. OUO’s declared “digitisation” strategy seems 25 years too late.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Oxford University Press (Oxford, England) in Oct 2025

      Interview

I applied online via a portal and found this easy and efficient. I was then offered a first interview via email. I appreciated that they emailed you reminders for the interviews. I was offered a range of time slots to choose from. The interview was with two members of staff and contained standard questions. Around a week later was invited for a second interview in which I would need to prepare and give a presentation based on their sales techniques and products. I had the option to ask for clarification on the task and chose to prioritise researching the OUP products instead. I put together a presentation and was given two dates to select from in the upcoming week. One of the interviewers in the second round was familiar, the other was new. Both very friendly in both interviews. The process was very efficient and helpful. A week and a half after my second interview, I was offered the role. I was a little nervous waiting for the result; however, I am, of course, very happy with the outcome. The process from applying on Sept 20th to accepting Nov 5th took just over a Month. The job description is a little different from what the role may ultimately be (e.g., I may have more involvement with marketing than I initially thought based on the description, and the types of clients I will work with were clarified for me during the interviews). Asking lots of questions was helpful during the process - I don't feel that it was an issue. I was very lucky to have been offered interviews for other companies during this time, and although my other offers were appealing and at well-regarded and well-known companies, I am accepting OUP with gusto due to the length of time the staff stay in their roles and how dynamic and caring OUP looks to be. I can't wait to begin.
