I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Northrop Grumman (Rancho Bernardo, CA) in Jun 2012
Interview
They conducted a phone interview after I applied on the website. The asked very specific questions regarding the job and my experience with embedded systems. After a couple days, they gave me a call back for an in-person panel interview. There were 4 people that sat in on the panel during the interview, and it was very intimidating. Each person had their own gauntlet of questions, and it was a grueling process. Be prepared to display your knowledge and experience to them. They have a whiteboard and ask questions to make sure you are competent in the areas you claim to be, so don't try to BS them while applying. These people are experts and will see right through it.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Northrop Grumman (Baltimore, MD) in Oct 2023
Interview
A recruiter reached out after seeing my resume in the Grace Hopper database. We scheduled a 1-hour phone interview with an engineer for later that week.
I ended up getting the offer about an hour after the interview. I'm not sure if this is common, but I think the turnaround was so fast because Northrop was actively interviewing people at the Grace Hopper conference that day and giving out offers on the spot.
The interview was easy, but it was also a good screen for my basic technical skills and interest in doing embedded software.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Northrop Grumman in Dec 2022
Interview
I was contacted by a recruiter and he suggested I go to their hiring event. It was through that hiring event I got an in-person interview. The interview itself was fairly straightforward. He talked to me about NG and asked if I knew about NG and why I wanted to join. I was also asked about relevant school work. (I finished my Master's about 2 years ago and I was applying for an entry level position so this is expected). I was also asked some basic CS questions related to object oriented programming. Overall, the interview process was pleasant. Out of all the interviews I've had, this interview was the most relaxed I felt. Even before coming into the interview, I got to meet some employees and it was great chatting with them. I highly recommend going to a hiring event.
