      Air Export Agent Interview

      1 Jul 2011
      Anonymous interview candidate
      South San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Nippon Express USA (South San Francisco, CA) in Jun 2011

      Interview

I got a call from Top Group San Francisco that works with Japanese firms. A week later I got an interview to a direct hire position with Nippon Express USA and the process consisted of: 1st Interview: 1)20-30 minutes completing their job application ( it has to be very accurate and exact, in other words, no answer must be blank) 2)45 minutes group interview with HR coordinator/recruiter and Division Manager (they want to know if you are not only the right match for the job, but also for their multicultural - mostly Asian - environment) 3)20-30 minutes skills test ( basic math, conversion, geography, business letter) 2nd Interview and last (a week later): For those candidates who pass the first round The second interview is also a group interview including last interviewers plus the General Manager and HR Manager. It lasts approximately an hour. There are multiple questions related to your job experience in which examples are required. This is also the time to ask significant questions about the company and specific operational plans according to the job position. Final decision: It was sent to my Top Group firm recruiter in this case.

      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Nippon Express USA (Portland, OR) in Sept 2013

      Interview

I applied online via an job board and received an Email one day later showing positive interest from Nippon Express and inviting me to an interview. I dressed to impress in a shirt and tie which I think is usual. Welcomed by an employee and asked to wait for the General Manager the branch to me seemed really quite with about 20 people and only drivers disturbing the peace. The General Manager guided me to an conference room for the interview. Interview: The General Manager first explained very detailed the history and day to day operations of Nippon Express then describing the job very detailed as well. Following I was asked about my educational and professional history leading into very detailed questions about my past work experience and earned skills. I was given time to ask questions and or other details. Towards the end salary expectations and actual salary were explained, benefits package and minimum duration were explained as well. After a positive feedback I was invited for a second and final interview with the department managers.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Very detailed questions about your past work experience. I had to explain exact work procedures, how I structured my work and which skills I have earned are gonna be useful for the job.
