I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at New Balance in Jun 2022
Interview
I applied online and heard from an HR worker to schedule phone screener. Overall the women I interviewed with meant well, was respectful of my time, and was very friendly when I was talking to her. I didn't find the screener rude or mean, but there were some things in the interview that struck me as odd. She canceled the first time around an hour before hand and ended up delaying a week to talk. She started off by saying "I assume who've already looked into the history of New Balance?". I had to admit I did not know the founding history. She then later assumed I followed New Balance on social media which I felt like was a little bold- I don't even follow any companies including the one I currently work for. She also assumed I know their brand ambassadors at one point. She was looking for someone who had already drank the company Kool-Aid, which was a lot for me on the first phone screener. I did do some company research before but more so on products and technology- seems like I focused on all the wrong things. If your really looking to get in here seems like your really going to have to really do your company research for the HR screeners. More so than what I'm used to as an engineer. Again the women I talked to very very nice and obviously very passionate about New Balance and their mission, but was expecting a high familiarity with the brand. Technical questions about resume were easy, basically non-existent. It was basically all soft skills based.
