We are sorry for the misunderstanding that this candidate has. We did not make an offer to her, either written or verbally.
She was a good candidate for the position, and we had hoped to hire her. She interviewed well and had the qualifications we were looking for. She was an acquaintance with someone who was already working in the same department we were hiring for, and our current employee gave her a good recommendation.
She is correct in her statement that there was a timing issue with getting her a written offer. Unfortunately, during the time lag, the candidate discussed with her acquaintance (our employee), matters which should have been of a confidential nature. Those discussions caused concerns with other employees in that same department.
We decided that there was too much potential for similar discussions in the future, and were worried about the effect that might have on the harmony and atmosphere within the department, and that we couldnât ultimately make the candidate an offer of employment.
