I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at KLA (Milpitas, CA)
Interview
The initial coordination with the recruiter was smooth, but the technical interview itself revealed a highly questionable approach to evaluating candidates.
During the technical discussion, the hiring manager based their questions heavily on content and details that have already been published by my current employer. While the information discussed was public, I found the direction of the interview to be highly inappropriate. Instead of using hypothetical scenarios or focusing on my general engineering methodologies, fundamental physics, and problem-solving logic, the interviewer relentlessly drilled into the details of my current company’s published designs. There is a much better and more professional way to steer a technical discussion to properly assess a candidate's capabilities.
To make matters worse, the interviewer abruptly ended the call the exact minute the scheduled time was up, stating they had another meeting. There was absolutely zero introductiuon about the role, expectations, or team culture, and zero time for me to ask any questions.
When I reached out to HR to politely withdraw my application and provide constructive feedback regarding this uncomfortable interview style, they ignored the feedback entirely and simply replied with a generic rejection template.
