I applied online. I interviewed at Honeycomb in Mar 2024
Interview
Did initial phone screen and it went well. I was told I would be scheduled for the next interview by EOD. I didn't hear back and followed up a couple days later. No response until an automated response the following week that the role was filled.

Question 1
normal phone screen questions like a summary of your experience and skills. A couple situational questions as well.

Interview
I only got to the manager interview. But I felt that I was rejected because I did not fit their culture of extreme liberalism. I don't have a problem with anyone, but if you do not list "diversity" as your number 1 priority then you don't fit in with them.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Honeycomb (New York, NY) in Apr 2024
Interview
The interview was one of the warmer processes that I had gone through. Everyone was very nice and that means a lot in these very technical interviews where I have definitely had either disinterested or plain dismissive interviewers.
The first part was a recruiter call just general background. Next was hiring manager again mostly just about my experience and no real gotcha questions just talking. It was very inviting and nice.
Next you get a take home exam which they said you should give 1.5hrs on. It was not timed, it was not in some third-party app where you video tapped and strictly timed, which I appreciated immensely. You basically just clone a GitHub repo and solve problems in a React App. I think it was fixing one function to send the data correctly, you had to use something like useContext to get it to the right component because I believe the data was coming from a parallel component. They were reasonable problems and you got to connect this app's data directly into Honeycomb's platform so that made it a great intro to the product and so much more applicable than other interviews I had.
If you did well then you went to the final panel interviews that were like 4 - 1hr total. Two of the interviews were technical, one going over your take home the other was A&D, then two people/culture interviews. Again very casual and warm, i was very impressed by that.

Question 1
They mostly just asked about my experience and then the take home exam. There really wasn't too much technicality which was wonderful.
