I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Honeycomb in Aug 2025
Interview
There were two technical stages. First is the screening of C++ and CAD skills. Second is the test task to check how you code in C++. Lastly I was introduced to the CEO and asked about my expectations

Question 1
Virtual tables, RVO/NRVO, and other C++ topics. BRep geometry how to traverse a topology...
After clearing initial rounds, the interview with the Hiring Manager was a major letdown. Her tone was quite condescending and dismissive. Instead of diving into the technical architecture or the "how-to" of my past projects, she spent the entire time questioning my personal contribution, repeatedly asking if the work was actually mine or done by others. It felt like a cross-examination rather than a technical discussion.
There seemed to be an innate distrust against candidates from my specific background. It was very demotivating to have my 5+ years of experience treated with such suspicion from the start itself. Now I understand why this role has remained open for so long. I’ve blacklisted this company for the future. please be cautious when applying to this AI team
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Talked about a AI project you worked in the past and what role you had in this one.
Was asked to set availability for interview and would be sent invite afterwords. Put in a 1 hour block of availability and let them know I put it in. Did not hear back, so a few days before the block I followed up asking about not receiving an invite. Still heard nothing. Block passed and radio silence for 3 weeks, then suddenly the recruiter followed up trying to see if I was still interested and offered the same option of giving my availability with no lock in. After considering it, decided not worth it after being ghosted.
**Suggestion for Recruiters**
If you ask for someone to give you their availability and they do, follow up with them. Don't ghost them and expect you can just come back several weeks later and act like nothing happened. This isn't a dating experience.
