I went through a series of four interviews, 3 virtual and one in person. First 2 were fairly straight forward, the 3rd was in person and I was also asked to complete an assessment to test my skills. Up until this point I considered it to be a good experience with my only complaint being that the salary wasn’t disclosed. The 4th interview was with the COO and that’s where things took a turn, he continued to mention how their culture “wasn’t PC” and how he doesn’t want anyone who is “sensitive” in this position because “no one wants to see someone crying at work”. I was also asked about my martial status and whether I had kids (illegal to ask in the state of CA, where they are based and where I was interviewing from). After the interview with the COO, I was told they wouldn’t be moving forward with me. I didn’t particularly feel good about that given what the COO had explicitly said in the interview. I did bring this to the attention of HR, but doubt I will hear back.
