I applied through university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Grant Thornton (San Francisco, San Jose)
Interview
I applied through college careers website. My first round interview took place at the San Jose office, with a Senior Manager, and lasted about 30 minutes. I was contacted a less than 12 hours later with an invitation to their second round interviews.
The second round of interviews took place in San Francisco, CA and I choose the 12:00 - 4:00 PM time slot. I went to lunch with a new associate and a manager, along with two other candidates. After lunch I had two back-to back 30 minute interviews. The first interview was with a manager and the second with a partner. Both were very easy, with minimal questions. Lastly, they gave a presentation about the culture of their firm. This was a great experience but I spent all day at their firm, met the staff, and Got a good look into the firm.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Tell me about a time when something changed in your life and you had to adapt.
One strength, one weakness.
Tell me about yourself.
The first round of interviews was a group interview with four people, followed by an English essay. Neither the interview questions nor the essay topic had anything to do with auditing, and the interview questions seemed to be fixed; some interviewees even knew the questions beforehand. If that's true, I think it's unfair.
The interview process at Grant Thornton typically involves multiple stages, including an initial phone screening, a behavioral interview, and a technical or case-based assessment. Candidates may also meet with managers or partners. The process emphasizes cultural fit, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities, often concluding with a final round or offer discussion
