I applied online. I interviewed at Google in Mar 2018
Interview
It was a phone interview, the whole interview lasted around 40 mins. None of the questions that Google sent me was asked, the interviewer went straight to the portfolio after "tell me about yourself" and let me explain the design process of two of my projects.
1 screening interview with a designer on the team followed by a portfolio presentation to a panel of 3-4 leads. 1:1 interviews with each of the panel. Finally a short call with a director.

Question 1
Various questions around projects presented in portfolio regarding process, thinking, etc.
It was overall a positive experience. The interview itself was pretty chill. I was asked to model a part on a CAD software and then had a chat with the manager.
I applied online. I interviewed at Google (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2022
Interview
The overall interview was a decent experience, but the follow-up process wasn't as positive. I waited a couple weeks to hear an answer after the interview, then got an email from the recruiter saying that they had an update for me to discuss over the phone. I planned my day around this call, just for them to let me know I was rejected with very little feedback on why. I'd honestly rather just get this info over email, versus waiting for a whole conversation with a recruiter that felt weird and scripted. Bit disappointed with how this process was handled- more prompt & personal communication would've been appreciated.
