      Product Manager Interview

      30 Mar 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at GoPro in Mar 2022

      Interview

The process included a standard recruiter screen that was followed by a discussion with the hiring manager. The recruiter was fantastic. The hiring manager was focused mainly on gauging relevant experience and fit. It was mainly an experiential checklist exercise, old school style. I did not get the impression the leader was a modern product practioner nor the type of person interested in developing talent. The process ended with a canned, no-reply email from the recruiter.

      Question 1

It was a checklist exercise with the hiring manager to see if you had the exact, broad experience they were looking for.

      Interview

I had a phone interview with the company recruiter. Unfortunately, the recruiter knows little about the job and processes and misunderstood me when I tried to clarify some things. This misunderstanding probably created a bad impression about me which led to nowhere. Lesson learned: keep your questions and answers as simple and super understandable as possible to avoid misunderstandings.

      Interview

Interview process was great. Recruiting team really took time and planned all phone interviews taking into account my schedule. All phone interviews were on time and professional. In person interview was 5 people 1:1. All had a very different skill set. I was sure to have questions for each of them and they all were very open and honest about the role and the needs of the company. After reading other reviews my only feedback about the negative reviews are- this company is a start-up , coming from a start-up background I totally understood that the 30 minutes each interviewer gave me was a huge sacrifice in their day. Be sure to ask your most important questions , they don't have time to chat with you. I felt like the interview schedule was great. Really gave me a great perspective of the company and the role
