I am not sure if they want somebody or they just want cheap solutions to their business development plan.
I was contacted on Linkedin with one of those group messages that are sent to everybody. Already for that, I shouldn't have replied, but it looked like an interesting position.
I had 2 phone calls with the GetYourGuide recruiter and we talked about my experience, motivation, etc.
The third interview was a take at home test. I was sent 2 excel spreadsheet with data from some markets and the task was to put together 2 PowerPoint presentations that had very little to do with Localization itself. The tasks were to analyze the markets data, revenue, population, English speaking percentage, trips, leisure locations, 5 years trend, etc and put together 2 presentations explaining which market you would localize your product into.
The task was quite time consuming and mainly business development, business analysis and market research. I took my time to make it appealing and I took a day from my holidays to finish it by the deadline they were asking for.
After a week or so I have received their automatic email template saying that the solution wasn't the one they were looking for. To be honest, after 3 phone calls and after I took so much time to do their task I would have liked at least a quick phone call.
I am not sure if they are really looking for somebody or they are just looking for cheap solutions to solve their business problems. They say the data are fake, and that's ok, but all they do is change the name of the country and have their inbox exploding with FREE business solutions for their company.
I wouldn't reply again to their email.
