      Trainee Research Executive Interview

      14 Jun 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Oxford, England
      No offer
      Neutral experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Future Thinking (Oxford, England) in Dec 2014

      Interview

After I applied online, there were two furthers stages: an initial face-to-face interview, with a follow-up face-to-face interview (which also involved a skills exercise). I don't have many notes from the initial interview, but it consisted of the typical interview questions. They probe your CV and covering letter, and there were a few competency questions thrown in for good measure. I was interviewed by two different people. The follow-up interview was more difficult. This consisted of: - More interview questions, with particular probing around a-levels and degrees undertaken and any projects which you've taken part of in the past. - A skills exercise. This involved looking at some slides containing data from market research and making a recommendation for which product to move forwards with. They (purposefully) didn't give me much time to look at this data and I was put under a lot of pressure/probing regarding my answers. This is quite hard to prepare for, but look to grab the key information from a quick look and present it confidently. I didn't think I performed badly on this, but it was probably what meant I didn't get offered the position. Be prepared for the probing after you give your recommendation, as it is quite harsh.
