I was contacted by a headhunter. He asked me to perform a straightforward coding test (palindrome algorithm plus unit tests).
First contact with company was telephone interview with the Director (in reality a Manager, not Director) to whom I would report and his boss. All questions came from the Director. His questions were largely centered on my work experience and work interests. He was clearly aiming to get a feel for personality fit as well as how comfortable I was with the technologies. Nothing explicitly technical in the questions though.
Next was in person interview with the Director and 2 senior devs. This part was a similar format to the telephone interview with the exception of 1 technical question. They wanted me to whiteboard how to join two tables such that I would get values even if the 2nd table doesn't have a corresponding entry. Answer: left outer join. I asked if I could just say that without whiteboarding anything and yep, the technical questions were finished.
2 months later the Director quit. 2 weeks before I started, 1 of the senior devs who interviewed me quit.
