I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Foodpairing (Ghent) in Apr 2022
Interview
- Introductory Interview (30 min.).
- Technical/Experience Interview (45 min.).
- Deep Technical Interview/Live Design Challenge (60 min.)
The design challenge is a bit unreasonable. I've designed more complex systems multiple times, but having to do this in 30 minutes, under supervision, and using tools that you are not familiar with, seems like an unfair assessment to me.
I would say that the challenge itself was reasonable, but the circumstances not. Instead, making the design challenge a take home assignment to be discussed on a later interview would have made more sense.
Also their English leans towards the broken side, which increases the challenge. But at the end of the day I reckon it makes it more realistic, given that these will be part of the actual day to day circumstances.
I endured through the whole process though, and I was very polite and patient. They were a tad arrogant, and still I smiled and was extremely nice to the very end.
However, I was ghosted by them. Didn't even get a rejection/feedback email.
