      Marketing Manager Interview

      19 Nov 2024
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Flybits in Aug 2024

      Interview

They seem like a mess and very shady practices internally - they interviewed me for a Marketing Manager role and decided to go with someone more experienced apparently. But then they reached out a month later and said that they ended up hiring a Specialist instead but that they really needed someone in management because the Marketing Specialist was unable to think strategically and they would not be able to move forward with the projects they wanted to with just the Specialist supporting them. So they wanted to interview me again for the same Manager role they just rejected me for a month ago. A pleasant surprise at their transparency, I took this as a good sign. However prior to extending an offer, they wanted to check my business references. They asked me for references specifically at the Canadian banks I used to work at and they wanted me to provide work addresses specifically, no personal email addresses. They were very specific asking for the number of employees/references and at which specific companies. They would not accept references from the non-banks I previously worked for. It seems they will take your references and try to contact these people to generate sales leads later, since banks are their client base. Beware or you will destroy all your past connections and business relationships because Flybits is desperate for business. Also Flybits should know that bigger companies don't allow work email addresses to be shared anymore for work references as they have noticed many companies are abusing this information for sales pitches and lead generation afterwards. So they will only share personal email addresses from now on. But Flybits will find this unacceptable and push for company email addresses only
