I applied through university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at FactSet (Boston, MA) in Apr 2011
Interview
5, 10 minute interviews. The questions were all the same. Didn't know Finance so didn't make a great impression, just got a second round interview from my University
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at FactSet
Interview
3-4 people all at different times: HR, Manager, Senior Managers. Started with an employee referral, and moved from HR all the way to those that head the division/group. They hire smart and driven people, this is evident with those employees that have been there for many years. The interview wasn't too difficult, but the new hire training was very intense. They invest heavily in the their employees, and expect the employees to be on top of their game.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at FactSet (Milan) in Jan 2014
Interview
Brief phone call followed by meeting in a café with hiring manager and (later joining) a very competent colleague. Detailed discussion around set-up and work practices. Despite promise the hiring manager did not give feedback by phone post meeting.

Question 1
Quite telling: the interviewer in our conversation said that "for me salary was not important when deciding to join Factset". A bit later the question came: What salary would be acceptable to you?; I do not again want to make offers to people that I never hear back from again...
