Interview Experience Review:
I attended a walk-in interview recently and the overall experience was quite disappointing from a candidate’s perspective. Candidates were asked to arrive in the morning, but the interview process took almost the entire day. I reached the venue around 11:30 AM, and my interview was conducted only around 6:30 PM.
During this time, candidates were asked to wait in meeting rooms and were moved between different rooms multiple times without clear updates about when the interviews would start. It appeared that only one HR representative was managing the entire walk-in process.
Eventually, the interview itself was conducted through an online Microsoft Teams call instead of a face-to-face discussion. This made many candidates wonder why a physical walk-in was required when the interview could have been scheduled online.
Additionally, candidates were asked to keep their mobile phones in their bags and leave them at the reception, which made it difficult to manage time or stay informed while waiting for several hours. For lunch, candidates were asked to step outside and return within a short period.
Job searching already requires significant time and effort, and many candidates travel long distances to attend walk-in drives. Better planning, clearer communication, and more structured scheduling would greatly improve the candidate experience.
Candidates planning to attend similar walk-in drives may want to be prepared for a long waiting time.
