I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Eventbase (Vancouver, BC) in Nov 2022

      Interview

I have never wrote a review on glassdoor but I felt compelled to write one after the unprofessional and obvious RACIST treatment I got at interviewing at Eventbase. First of all the person I interviewed with couldn’t even bother putting their camera on to show themselves to me after I presented myself visually and professionally on camera. How extremely rude and unprofessional? Specially when you don’t take the time to introduce yourself at all during the call? I knew everything I need to know about the state of mind of the interviewer In the first 5 minutes of that interview just by the way I was treated. They would ask questions and not event wait for me to finish my sentence, move on to the next or openly have big sighs on the microphone. They NEVER gave me a fair chance into explaining what I actually could do at the company? I had to battle with them to get a follow up on their questions to make the conversation go someplace. Exemple: this is a company doing apps for event ok? I excitedly told them that I had been building my own app for the last 6 months and that it had been an incredible journey after having worked in the industry for some time myself. What do you think they would ask next? What is the app about? Is it live? Can they try it? What programming language I used? What size was my team? What style of management was pertinent to the app delivery? Absolutely nothing. Niet, nada. They moved on to the next vague question and did not ask A SINGLE THING about my past or my app. Add to that the sassiest and rudest behaviour and you have quite the cocktail I tell you. They would also ask questions and be extremely sarcastic. Example: “you do know this company uh… kinda makes apps right? Like the job hum you know? The job you’re applying for today riiiiight? In situation like this you cannot afford to be rude, agressive or unprofessional. It is also very important to remember and ask yourself honestly. What could have trigger such a behaviour from someone unknown to me? What would it look like with some one else that doesn’t look like me? I can wholeheartedly say from others and my peers that have interviewed at Eventbase… None them had close to the experience that I had interviewing at Eventbase. My advice? Avoid at all cost if you’re a POC or someone marginalised. This is not the place for you at all. If that’s how they feel comfortable treating potential new people… imagine the horror stories that go down at that place from the empowered people such as Leads and head of department? Like I said I knew exactly what I was in for from this person’s behaviour in the first chaotic 5 minutes of interview. Keep your head high and don’t even give a chance at those people to disrespect you, your integrity or intelligence.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Eventbase in Dec 2022

      Interview

-Applied through job posting. Application process was simple. Uploaded resume and answered a few screening questions. -Received an email a couple of weeks later requesting an interview with a member of the people team. Easily selected a time and confirmed interviewed with team member. -1st interview was over zoom. I had my camera on while the people team member did not. There wasn't an explanation for this, but it seemed a little awkward to bring up as we dived straight into the interview questions. Most of the questions were about my previous experience and 'cultural fit' questions. The interview was more of a conversation, and the people team member went into detail about compensation, benefits, and remote work expectations. It was an overall pleasant experience. At the end of the interview they let me know they would get back to me in a few days with next steps. -2nd interview. People team member emailed with an interview request with the 2 team leads (hiring managers). The interview was over zoom. I had to re-schedule the interview with short notice, and the team at Eventbase were extremely accommodating and happy to adjust my interview day and time. Interview was a little intense, lots of skill and behavioural based questions. Again I felt that the interview was more of a conversation, and I learned more details about the role and what my day to day tasks would entail. -Offer. The people team member called a few days after to offer me the position. They were able to meet my salary range. Overall the whole interview process was one of the best experiences I've had applying for a position.

      Interview

Interview was alright - got called in for 2 interviews. First interview was very intense, didn't feel as if there would be much support or internal career development. Second interview was slightly better, asked a few questions when it was my turn that weren't fully answered.
