One of the worst candidate experience I’ve ever had.
I was contacted by a third party recruitment firm about this company. I was intrigued and went with it, then I had the first interview with one of their Game Designers, which was ok. I was weirded out that he asked me some basic C++ questions, but it was obvious he had no clue what I was talking about and had to follow the answers I was giving to what was written on a website.
Moving forward, I was tasked to complete a home assignment, which was to implement a game similar to Slither.IO. They said that the task shouldn’t take more than 1-2 days to code. It took, it took me a whole week to finish this assignment, because it was so much work to do. Not difficult, but a lot of work.
Besides that I also had a code review assignment to do of a simple function.
Submitted both the assingments, then I was completely ghosted. A month passed by and I had no response from them.
The nail in the coffin for me is that, when it was coming close to a month since I submitted my assignments and didn’t receive anything, I got an automated mail that asked me to rate the candidate experience. Of course I rated the lowest, which was 0.
What was even worse for them is that 1 week after I submitted the assignments, I was in communication with the 3rd party recruiter (because Embark’s recruiter stopped answering my emails, that’s their level of professionality), is that they looked up the assignments, all that they had to do was write the feedback to me, good/bad, doesn’t matter, but I wanted to know if we move forward with me or not. They didn’t have 30 minutes, after 3 weeks after they looked at the code, to write the feedback. Their argument was that a Beta deadline would come and they were swamped.
If this is how they handle possible employees / actual candidates, RUN from this company.
