Had an initial screening interview with HR. Then interviewed in person with the hiring manager. Overall that went well - he asked good questions and explained the position, company, and products well. I then had two follow up phone interviews with individuals who would be peers. This gave me the opportunity to dig more into what the day to day is like, good and bad, etc... Based on the published financial information on the company, I asked a lot of questions about future of the product, sales pipeline, cashflow, and expected growth and while I believe they were realistic, overall I was sold a positive picture of where things were heading.
I was offered the position and accepted. I gave notice at my employer and two days before my last day there I was contacted by Determine and told that their board had made the decision to cancel all open requisitions, all current job offers, and were actually laying people off and they were rescinding my offer. Obviously I was a bit stunned. There had to be some inkling that this was coming during the time I was interviewing. Companies don't take that sort of drastic step overnight. Needless to say I found this to be extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate in a way I could not have imagined. I would warn anyone to stay away from a company that operates in such a way.
