I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Crossover for Work (Madrid) in Mar 2017
Interview
First interview by phone and questionnaire, later I was required to undertake a technical/product challenge. Also I was required to record a presentation with my solution proposal. And finally I was interviewed by my future manager.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Crossover for Work in Jan 2017
Interview
I submitted my application, received an email to confirm my email address and was asked to take an 8 - 10 hour "test". I was able to take the test in increments etc. meaning I could spend 8-10 1-hour blocks instead of completing it 8-10 hours consecutively. At first, I thought this was great! I know my stuff and have no problem proving it but then I studied each "assignment" and pretty much felt like it was a way to get free work and ideas from candidates. To complete those assignments would require time to create visuals or source some from the web, research and lots of analytical thinking. Then, find a way to summarize into 2 slides. I understand that they are trying to weed out qualified candidates, but its best to ask for examples of work completed, not for ideas about new features for their WorkSmart product, processes etc. Kinda sucks...because the company seems decent, but my time is precious and I don't give away free ideas. Hire me and then you get my brain. As far as the proposed salary - it's about 30k below what I would earn as a Senior PM, however working remotely is a nice perk so didn't mind the lower salary.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Create a 2 slide pitch for 2 new features hypothetically going to add to WorkSmart. Explain the problem it solves and the value it brings.
Hi there and thank you for the feedback that you left regarding your experience with our testing and interviewing process. We were sorry to see that you felt that the testing was a way to get 'free' work from you. These tests are the same across the board, and are real-world challenges that our dev folks have run into in the past. Because hire the top 1% of talent around the world, it is required that we utilize a highly competitive process to, as you say. 'weed out' any individuals who wouldn't make the cut. If you are interested in completing the process, we would be more than happy to to discuss with you. We welcome any feedback that you may have. Please email us at feedback@crossover.com
