      Sales Development Representative Interview

      23 Apr 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Canonical (London, England)

      Interview

Contacted by email the day after my application, saying they were impressed by my CV. They gave me 4 questions to answer and send back by email in order to get to know me better before the interview. The day after this we schedule a call. The day the call should have taken place, another member of Canonical who wasn't previously involved in my interview process sends me an email in which there was written that they placed a candidate for the role the day before. "So as to save your time, we're going to cancel this interview". Quite disappointing...

      I interviewed at Canonical

      Interview

Canonical is basically if "talented-kid-disorder" were a company. Canonical has smart people, but they're unable to actualize their vision. They basically make the interview process extremely long to frame Canonical as some sort of prestigious institution. Not necessarily difficult or challenging, but long. If you really do your research, you find out that Redhat is far more profitable when Canonical isn't. Canonical's main selling point is that it's cheaper than Redhat. If you care about your sales career you'd want to sell for Redhat- which not only has a profitable product but has a simpler and faster interview process. The process and the Glassdoor reviews are highly indicative of a strange circle-jerk culture where the employees think they are brilliant for being above average in high school. TLDR: Canonical is a B player in the industry with an A player interview process. Don't be fooled.

      Sales Development Representative Interview

      25 Jun 2021
      Anonymous interview candidate
      London, England
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Canonical (London, England) in Jun 2020

      Interview

The process was initially managed by a recruiter who was very helpful in preparing me for the interview. The interviews consisted of a succession of video presentations, phone calls and zoom calls. The process went smoothly and the interviewers were pleasant and welcoming. The process was conducted entirely remotely - an advantage in uncertain times for public health.
