I applied online. I interviewed at California Closets
Interview
I applied on the company website and got an email about a week after asking to schedule a video interview. It was easy to schedule because there were many open slots.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
The usual. Why do you want to work here and why you’re leaving current employer. They asked about how I prefer to work, what I look for in a manager, etc. The role, although pitched as entry-level, is not. It requires a high level of independence as the manager works 100% remotely. This role us 100% on site.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at California Closets (Phoenix, AZ) in Apr 2026
Interview
Initial phone conversation with HR to describe experience, plus some generic questions about problem-solving skills, etc. As long as your education and experience match job requirements, you should pass on to the Zoom/Teams interview with the Hiring Manager. They assess your technical expertise and hone in on your specific skills and experience. Did not make it past this round, even though I felt as though the interview went okay at worst. Rejection email stated they were pursuing candidates with more qualifications and experience.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at California Closets (San Francisco, CA)
Interview
I felt the interview process was extensive. The first visit to the showroom included an interview and spatial reasoning tests, Then I had a zoom interview with a sales manager. Next was meeting with another designer and a field measurement and homework assignment (closet design).
