I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at CIBC (Toronto) in Jan 2014
Interview
One preliminary informal interview with a higher-up in the company to determine where I would make a good fit. One formal interview, an hour and a half long with fairly expected behavioural questions combined with very specific questions about commercial banking.
After interview I was repeatedly told I would be contacted on specific days, and then was not contacted until after those days. Each call or email was nothing more than "Still interviewing, will contact you with more information on Friday". Was never contacted on day they said they would, and was never given more information. This happened about four times. Entire process from first preliminary Interview until final call was over three months. Did not receive offer.
Final call was basically "We're not saying you didn't get the job, but you probably didn't get the job and you probably won't hear from us again". Entire organization seems disorganized and never felt like I was treated with any sort of respect throughout process.

Question 1
It's your first day on the job, we tell you to go out and find three prospective clients. Where do you start and what do you do?
I applied online. I interviewed at CIBC (Whitehorse, YT) in Oct 2025
Interview
Pretty basic; many questions were about if I am legally allowed to work in Canada and if I have any connections to the city. Mostly behavioral questions about why cibc and why commercial banking.
Online interview with three different people of varying rank and roles. They were more interested in me as a person versus my overall skills as there was case study to do for the next step of the process.

Question 1
You are very busy with your day to day and a project that you are nearing a deadline for. Someone else comes and asks you to work on a critical job but you are already at your max workload. How do you respond?
I applied online. I interviewed at CIBC (Langley, BC) in Sept 2025
Interview
firstly, they prefer fresher from SFU and UBC. First would be to get invited to a mixer/Mingler where you will meet the rest of the team. if you’re able to create an impression you’ll be called for a second interview, which is a case study. It was a difficult case study, but all you need to do is show them how you handle pressure and tough situations.
