I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at CIBC (Toronto, ON) in May 2019
Interview
Was with three people, very casual, was mostly about explaining my processes and way of thinking. There was also a small design thinking challenge to be completed on the spot where they ask you to speak your thoughts aloud.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
They asked a design challenge which was how would you approach coming up with a new account or signing up people for accounts for their pets.
Round 1: HR Phone screening. Standard questions.
Round 2: Interview process, ended up being a phone call due to technical issues on their end as opposed to a virtual meet. This hindered my chances and put me at a disadvantage when other candidates were able to participate in a proper virtual interview.
Round 3: No indication during previous meet/comms that there was going to be a time-sensitive design exercise to be completed.
Task was completed on-time with the promise of a 30-minute meet that never happened.
Radio silence for 2 weeks.
After numerous emails, I reached out to HR directly and they claim had no idea about the situation or the process thus far (including the "design exercise").
Summary:
-Lack of transparency during the process.
-Poor treatment of candidate's time, value and participation.
-Disappointing follow-through after HR came back saying the head of the department I had applied for would contact me but they never did.
-Loss of respect for this company.
