I progressed through the interview rounds up to the system design stage. During that round, I made a conscious effort to clarify requirements by asking questions and felt that the discussion went well overall. However, the feedback I received was unexpected: the interviewer felt that I did not lead the conversation sufficiently and asked too many questions, and also commented that my design was not scalable.
After receiving the rejection, I first reached out to the recruiter to seek clarification or understand if there had been any misunderstanding, but did not receive any response.
I then contacted the interviewer on LinkedIn to better understand the feedback. He initially shared what he considered the ideal approach, and I responded by explaining my design decisions and how they addressed scalability. Unfortunately, I did not receive any further response after that.
Overall, the lack of follow-up and communication left a negative impression of the process. I do not recommend.

Question 1
how would you design your solution for an engineering problem.
The interview was ok. But in the end they gave terrible feedback and decided not to continue. I think they just went with a different candidate but still wanted to give some kind of feedback
I applied online. I interviewed at Booking.com in Jun 2022
Interview
This company still uses HackerRank for the first round of interviews. A bunch of multiple choices questions and then 2 coding exercises.
If you feel like this is something you're interested in I'd recommend taking your time cracking some HackerRank challenges beforehand.
